Rarity only
Released 7 October 2026- Accounts no longer get a money value, only the rarity from 0 to 100 and its tier.
- Points, weights and tier thresholds are unchanged: every rarity is the same as with release 2.0.0.
Every number follows fixed, published points. The model computes the examples itself.
The rarest cape counts in full, the second rarest half. The parts are combined, not added.
Next to the skin, capes and name history, every profile also shows how rare the account is: a number from 0 to 100 and one of five tiers, calculated from the name and the capes alone. We name no money value for any account.
What we cannot see does not count. While capes and names are not fully loaded, the rarity is therefore a lower bound.
An invented account, calculated by the model itself. A click on the rarity opens the breakdown, as on every profile page.

From an everyday name to a rare cape: how points and tiers spread.
A name is classified by its structure (length, digits, patterns, whether it can be pronounced) and by its meaning (word, first name, gaming term). The higher class counts, and every class has fixed points, up to 90.
Capitalisation, digits and underscores around a word do not make a name rarer.
Offensive names, brands and names of well-known people: Mojang can take them away. The page then says "not rated"; they add no points.
Names of one or two characters and names with characters that are no longer allowed get the most points, because they are not issued any more.
A name Mojang has flagged for a forced change adds no points.
Inside a class a name sits between 0.10 and 0.90: the shorter and more common, the higher. The position only decides between two classes of the same rank; it never changes the points.
Every cape has fixed points in the catalog: the fewer accounts have it and the longer it has been unavailable, the more. The rarest cape of an account counts in full, the second rarest half.
Freely available capes add hardly any points and do not count towards the collection; code capes count a quarter there.
When a cape closes before we have rated it, its points follow its owner count: the fewer owners, the more points, 45 at most.
49 capes, catalog 2026.10.03-2.

Above 6 full-weight capes every further one adds 4 points, 40 at most.
Freely available capes do not count, code capes a quarter each and together at most like 1 cape. Buying cheap capes therefore makes an account hardly any rarer.
The parts are not added but combined like probabilities: each one closes part of the gap to 100. Two rare things give more than one, never more than 100, and another cape can never lower the rarity.
Rarity = 100 × (1 − (1 − name) × (1 − rarest cape) × (1 − ½ × second cape) × (1 − collection)), each part as a share of 100.
The tier follows from the score: Notable from 15, Collectible from 35, Rare from 60, Unique from 85.
Collection: 4 points per full-weight cape above 6, 40 at most.
We name no money value for any account.
What the model does not know or does badly, the most important first.
Only accounts that wore a cape in public are counted. How rare staff capes and one-offs really are, we therefore know only roughly.
An offensive name or a brand that is on no list is rated like an ordinary name.
Literary words are underrated, surnames of TV characters overrated. The top word class is protected against the latter.
Words of eleven letters or more therefore stay in the second word class, and a name younger than 30 days is flagged.
It lets more through than many would call "clean". The points for it are set low.
The lists are not complete; what is missing counts as an ordinary name.
Words of other languages count as ordinary names; German words sit one class below English ones.
Cities and countries from subtitles are rated like English words.
We do not know whether they can still be signed in to. They get a caveat, not a deduction.
None of these sources is fetched at run time; the word data is a fixed part of every model release.

Points, weights and tier thresholds change only with a new release of the model or the catalog, and every release is in the changelog. Every rating names the versions it was calculated with.
